Ho, Ho, Ho, and Holiday Greetings from The Village Doctor! It is hard for me to believe it is December already, and The Village Doctor has enjoyed another year around our sun. We all gathered last week to celebrate the holidays and it was a joy to see how our family has grown. I am also thankful for all of you and your support over these twenty years (!).
So here is to your health and happiness, and to another twenty years of family wellness with The Village Doctor.
Happy Holidays!

Practicing Gratitude During the Holiday Season: A Pediatrician’s Perspective
The holidays can be a hectic time for families, with the stress of travel, family gatherings, and gift-giving often taking center stage. However, despite the chaos, the holidays also present some of the most powerful opportunities to model gratitude to your children. By teaching our children to practice gratitude, we can help them develop a more positive outlook on life and build resilience in the face of challenges.
The Healing Power of Mindfulness and Meditation During the Holidays
As a primary care physician, I often observe a predictable trend in my patients’ well-being as the holiday season approaches. While this time of year is synonymous with joy, family gatherings, and celebrations, it also brings unique stressors—overpacked schedules, financial strain, travel demands, and the pressure to create “perfect” holiday experiences. For many, these stressors manifest as insomnia, anxiety, depression, digestive issues, and even exacerbations of chronic health conditions.
Many of you may remember that I am on the Board of Directors of the Woodside Fire Foundation. After years of effort, I am proud to announce the opening of Fire Station 7. The previous structure was torn down in 2022 and the new fire station, nearly twice the size of the old one, opened for business this year, and will be open for its first holiday open house (complete with a visit from Santa Claus) on December 18th from 6 to 7:30pm. Come for the hot chocolate and cookies. Stay for a picture with Mr. Claus. I might note that this is also the season for the Foundation’s annual fundraising drive. Interested? You can make your donation here. Also of interest, this “time lapse video” of the construction of Station 7 here. Fun!
