I’m feeling nostalgic. Twenty years ago “today” (April 6, 2024) The Village Doctor was incorporated in the State of California. This week I’ve thumbed through those documents, our original lease, draft copies of patient agreements, early financial spreadsheets, and perhaps best, old photos of the office when it was being built out, young Weiss kids standing in the construction site, or Steve, our first hire, staffing the early iteration of our front desk. “Wow”.
Here we are, twenty years later, all grown up, but I hope still practicing “old fashioned values, modern medicine”, the tag line dreamed up all those years ago. Thank you all for being part of our journey, and here’s to the next twenty years!

As you all know, The Village Doctor is proud, and honored, to participate in the ups and downs of our patient’s lives, optimizing wellness, or nurturing back to health, all the while getting to know the entire family. However, before your new family member arrives and is able to join our concierge pediatric practice, you need an equally excellent and compassionate “concierge obstetrician”. Up until now, there has not been one to introduce to you. However, that has all changed. I am now delighted to introduce my friend and colleague, Dr. Justin Thompson!
I’ve known Justin since his residency days at Stanford (did I mention that TVD turns twenty this month?), and he is just as wonderful, talented, and personable today as then. Inspired, dare I say, by the TVD model, Dr. Thompson recently launched his own concierge obstetric practice, Dedicated Pregnancy Care, in Palo Alto. In his words:
Throughout my ten years as an ObGyn in the Bay Area, I developed a passion for a more personalized approach to pregnancy care. In 2023 I founded Dedicated Pregnancy Care. Our goal is to foster a safe, calming, and supported pregnancy experience. The continuity of having all of your prenatal visits, delivery, and postpartum care with one doctor provides a level of reassurance that can not be matched in the large corporate health care system. Combining this with 24/7 access to your doctor and delivery at Stanford Children’s Hospital ensures our patients receive the most personalized pregnancy care possible while giving birth at one of the top medical centers in the world.
Congratulations, Justin, and welcome to the broader TVD team. We’re all delighted to be working with you.
OK, last update. One of our Village Doctor families has these oh-so-cute black Labrador retriever puppies for sale to great homes available May 11. Email [email protected] to inquire. I can vouch for the family, but haven’t met the puppies (much too dangerous, how could one be introducted and not want to take one home?!). But maybe the timing is right for YOU and your family!
