This house call only program is designed as a partnership to guide you through these early stages with care and support.

Personal and Comprehensive Care at Home
At The Village Doctor, we believe in taking the time to know you and your baby personally. During our visits, our newborn care specialists will discuss everything from your pregnancy history to your newborn’s first days at home. They’ll cover essential topics such as:

Our Newborn Care Program is more than just a series of check-ups; it’s a comprehensive, coordinated care plan designed to give your family peace of mind. We also offer prenatal counseling and can arrange for a newborn check at your home within 1-2 days of hospital discharge.
Home visits continue until your baby is at least three months old. After four months, you have the option to transition to monthly clinic visits or continue with home visits, depending on what suits your family best.

Dr. Phillips
Grew up in Woodside and attended Woodside Elementary and Menlo School. She attended USC for college and Baylor College of Medicine for medical school. She completed her residency and was honored to serve as Chief Resident at UCLA Mattel Children
Dr. Pittson
Has called Palo Alto his home since his college days at Stanford, where he continued through “23rd grade” at the Stanford School of Medicine. He completed his residency at StanfordChildren’s Hospital and built a thriving practice in Palo Alto before he joined The Village Doctor in 2011.

How often will my pediatrician visit my home?
Your pediatrician will visit your home frequently during the first three months of your baby’s life. These visits allow your family to remain comfortable at home while receiving expert care. After your baby reaches four months, you can choose to transition to monthly clinic visits or continue home visits based on your preference.
Can I contact my pediatrician outside of scheduled visits?

When should the first newborn care visit happen?
We recommend scheduling your baby’s first newborn care visit within 1-2 days after being discharged from the hospital. As part of our Newborn Care Program, we can arrange for a home visit to ensure you and your baby are settled comfortably. During this visit, your pediatrician will perform a thorough examination and answer any initial questions you might have, providing peace of mind from the very start.
What about the sleeping habits of my newborn?
Newborns tend to sleep a lot, but often in short stretches of 2 to 3 hours at a time. This is completely normal as their sleep patterns take time to develop. During your visits, we’ll discuss healthy sleep habits, help you manage sleepless nights, and provide practical tips for creating a comfortable and safe sleep environment for your baby. We understand every baby is different, and we’re here to support you in finding a rhythm that works for your family.
What are your vaccine recommendations?
At The Village Doctor, we support the vaccine recommendations by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We will ensure your baby receives all the essential vaccinations to protect their health. During your newborn care visits, we’ll discuss the vaccine schedule in detail and may adjust the specific timing based on any questions or concerns you may have.
