If I’m trying to “Socially Distance,” is it ok to go for a walk in the park or on a bike ride?

Yes, so long as you are physically distant from others. The CDC recommendations are to keep 6 to 10 feet away from other people. An April 7 Belgian-Dutch study got a bit more specific and more conservatively recommends “that for walking, the distance of people moving in the same direction in one line should be at least 4–5 meter, for running and slow biking it should be 10 meters and for hard biking at least 20 meters.”  It is also important to note that the virus can survive on surfaces-  for 24 hours on cardboard and up to 3 days on plastic and stainless steel. If you are lucky enough to live near open spaces, going out for a run or ride will be good for your physical and emotional health. However if you cannot go out without mingling with other people, you should STAY HOME. (April 11, 2020)
