Dr. Sangani is a Board Certified Internist who comes to The Village Doctor after five years of thriving private practice in the Pacific Heights area of San Francisco. Her health care philosophy integrates physical, social, and mental health and she strives to provide individualized care for her patients’ unique lifestyles. Dr. Sangani has a strong background in preventive medicine and promoting wellness and education among her patients. In addition, she has extensive experience in women’s health and chronic disease management. Because Dr. Sangani is dedicated to providing high quality care, she enjoys spending time with her patients and takes an active interest in their lives and their concerns.

With her years of practice, Dr. Sangani has cultivated strong relationships among the physician and patient community in the Bay Area. She was named one of “America’s Top Physicians” in 2006 by the Consumers Research Council of America.

She is a graduate of Swarthmore College and holds a BA in psychology. Dr. Sangani received her MD from the University of Rochester in 1997 and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. After her Internal Medicine training, Dr. Sangani went on to obtain a Master’s in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley and subsequently completed a Preventive Medicine Residency at UCSF. While at Berkeley, she concentrated on Epidemiology and worked at the San Francisco County Health Department. She was a leader in disease outbreak investigations and served on the San Francisco Bio-Terrorism Working Group. Disease education has also been a long time interest of Dr. Sangani and she developed numerous health education programs on topics including diabetes, heart disease, obesity, cholesterol and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Dr. Sangani has strong international ties to medicine. Her travels have taken her to India and Kenya where she enjoyed working in public hospitals and local clinics. Many of these clinics serve underprivileged communities and Dr. Sangani was able to use her knowledge of Swahili, Gujarati and Hindi to communicate and treat these patients in their native languages. She also speaks fluent French.

As a native of the East coast, Dr. Sangani cherishes trips to upstate New York. She is married and enjoys spending time with her family who live locally on the peninsula. She looks forward to bike rides to the office, is an avid traveler, and loves to play to tennis, garden and cook. Dr. Sangani is a member of the American College of Physicians, and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and South Asian Public Health Association.

Dr. Sangani is married to a medical device entrepreneur focusing on developing innovative surgical therapies. She enjoys spending time with her family, her daughter and her labradoodle.
