Are there additional fees such as “co-payments”?
No. There are no hidden fees, co-payments, or deductibles. However, for services outside of The Village Doctor program, your health plan may impose these upon you.

What if I have a pre-existing medical condition?
No member will be excluded on the basis of a pre-existing condition.

Is this practice only for adults or can I sign up my children?
The Village Doctor program is unique in that it cares for the entire family – adult and pediatric, and includes a dedicated, full-time pediatrician. Our pricing is structured to encourage family participation, but adult only or child only options are available.

Does this replace my health insurance?
No. The Village Doctor will provide you with unparalleled primary care access and service, but will not cover hospital, emergency department, specialty services or most laboratory or imaging services. For these and other out of clinic services, back up health insurance will be required. Note that your health insurance costs may go down as you will no longer need primary care insurance coverage.

What if I get sick away from home?
By virtue of knowing you and your family well, and having immediate access to your electronic medical records day or night, we can provide excellent consultation services from afar. Using a secure, web based system, your medical records, including medications, allergies, lab results, and EKG’s are available to you where ever there is internet or email access. Additionally, frequent (or adventure) travelers can take advantage of our Travel Medicine expertise and relationships with international networks of physicians and world-class private repatriation services.

Can I sign up my Nanny for services?
Yes. Any member of your household is able to sign up for membership, however our progressively discounted pricing plan is available to immediate family members only.

What happens if we have a baby?
Congratulations! Any additional member of the family can be added at any time, with the monthly fee being adjusted accordingly the following month.

What happens if I have an Emergency?
The Village Doctor is no substitute for calling 911. However we are well connected with the local emergency medicine system and would want to be called after the paramedics are on their way to ensure that you are getting the best of emergency medical care.

Is membership only for if I get sick?
No. Our wellness program is designed to optimize your, and your family’s, health. Most of us go to the doctor only ‘when we get sick’ because of the access barriers which don’t exist with The Village Doctor program.

Won’t you get too busy and wind up difficult to reach like my regular doctor?

No. Note that the average primary care physician has between 2500 and 3000 patients and sees greater than 125 patients per week. Our primary goal in limiting our practice size to only 10% of this is to always be available to you.

Do you accept third party insurance, or Medicare?
No. The Village Doctor is providing extended medical services which are not covered by Medicare (or other insurance companies) and is thus not a health plan or insurance company. To this end our contract asks that you NOT submit The Village Doctor fees to any insurance company, particularly Medicare, for reimbursement.

Is my fee tax deductible?
For many clients your fee may be either reimbursable from a Health Care Reimbursement Account, Health Savings Account or be tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for specific details regarding your situation.
